Inspired by our daughter Phoenix, the Hope In Every Bite Initiative reflects our commitment to using small-batch baking as a way to serve, uplift, and connect with our community.
Through community events, local partnerships, and outreach efforts, Phoenix and Ember & Whisk share cookies with families, youth, educators, community leaders, and individuals experiencing hardship throughout the East Bay.
What We Stand For
Nourish the Community
Nourish the Community reflects our belief that food is one of the most basic ways we care for one another. Through this pillar, Ember & Whisk seeks to support families, students, seniors, and neighbors experiencing food insecurity by partnering with organizations already serving the community.
This work may include donated baked goods, community events, local outreach, youth-centered programs, and support for food access efforts as we grow.
Our goal is not just to give something sweet. It is to help create moments of dignity, connection, and encouragement.
Comfort Through Care
Comfort Through Care is focused on bringing warmth and encouragement to patients, caregivers, families, and care teams.
Inspired by the role a simple cookie once played during cancer treatment, this pillar exists to provide small moments of comfort in settings where people may be facing fear, fatigue, illness, or uncertainty.
Cookies may be small, but the message is not.
Through hospital partnerships, care packages, patient support programs, and community donations, our goal is to offer something simple but meaningful:
a reminder that someone cares.
Fuel for Life
Fuel for Life is dedicated to supporting long-term resilience for individuals, families, youth, and neighbors facing instability.
This pillar reflects our commitment to strengthening families and communities through outreach, encouragement, youth-centered opportunities, and partnerships that help people feel supported beyond a single moment.
Through care bags, community events, local collaborations, and outreach partnerships, Ember & Whisk aims to provide small-batch cookies as part of a larger message of hope:

Community Impact

Honoring Those Who Served
Honoring Service, Sharing Comfort
Purple Heart Veteran Robert Rodriguez
173rd Airborne Brigade (“Sky Soldiers”), Vietnam 1967–1968
During a recent community event, Phoenix had the honor of meeting Purple Heart Veteran Robert Rodriguez, who served with the 173rd Airborne Brigade during some of the Vietnam War’s most demanding campaigns.
After trying Ember & Whisk’s Nana’s Sticky Peach Cobbler Cookie, Mr. Rodriguez smiled and said:
“This is better than a Peach Cobbler Pie.”
For us, that moment represented more than a compliment. It was a reminder of what Hope In Every Bite is all about—bringing comfort, creating connection, and honoring the people whose stories have helped shape our communities.

Supporting Those Who Serve
Phoenix proudly delivered Ember Raisin-Loaded Brown Sugar Oatmeal Cookies to the firefighters of Alameda County Fire Station 22 as a small token of appreciation for their service and commitment to protecting our community.
Through the Hope In Every Bite Initiative, we believe acts of gratitude—no matter how small—help strengthen the connections that make our communities safer, stronger, and more compassionate.
